ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI), Kochi, will engage one Research Assistant (Rs. 25,000 per month) and one Field Assistant/Technical Assistant (Rs. 20,000 per month, consolidated) for the project “Comprehensive mapping and impact assessment of invasive species along the coastline of Kerala”. Both posts are purely on contract for one year from joining or till the project ends, whichever is earlier. Eligible candidates must submit biodata and scanned documents through the Google Form by 19 November 2026; the offline walk-in interview is on 26 November 2026 at 10.00 AM.

About ICAR-CMFRI

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute is based at Kochi and is the place of work for both posts. The positions are attached to a project on mapping invasive species and assessing their impact along the Kerala coastline. The notice is signed by the project’s PI.

Vacancy Details

Who Can Apply

Research Assistant: desirable experience

• Identification of marine organisms, including marine plankton and benthos, and experience in water and sediment quality analysis and data analysis.
• Working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS and Google Earth Engine.
• Swimming/diving experience and willingness to travel to various locations for field sampling and data collection.

Field Assistant/Technical Assistant: desirable experience

• Postgraduate in Fisheries Science/ Marine Biology/ Marine Science/ Environmental Science/Zoology.
• Identification of marine organisms, including marine plankton and benthos, and experience in water and sediment quality analysis and data analysis.
• Working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS and Google Earth Engine.
• Swimming/diving experience and willingness to travel to various locations for field sampling and data collection.

Age Limit

For both posts the age limit is below 35 years as on the date of notification. Age relaxation is available as per Government guidelines; the notice gives no category-wise figures.

रिसर्च असिस्टेंट के लिए पोस्टग्रेजुएट होना आवश्यक है, जबकि फील्ड असिस्टेंट/टेक्निकल असिस्टेंट के लिए ग्रेजुएट डिग्री जरूरी है। दोनों पदों के लिए 35 वर्ष से कम आयु सीमा है, जिसमें सरकारी नियमों के अनुसार छूट मिल सकती है। इसमें जलजीवों की पहचान, GIS उपकरणों का ज्ञान और क्षेत्रीय यात्रा की इच्छा जैसे अनुभव महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

Pay and Tenure

Both posts carry consolidated emoluments: Rs. 25000/- per month for the Research Assistant and Rs. 20000/- per month for the Field Assistant/Technical Assistant. Each post is purely on a contract basis for one year from the date of joining or till termination of the project, whichever is earlier. The notice calls the positions contractual, non-regular, time bound and co-terminus with the project.

How to Apply for ICAR-CMFRI Recruitment 2026

1. Open the Google Form given in the notice and submit your biodata along with scanned copies of the original supporting documents by 19.11.2026.
2. Send all original certificates from matriculation onwards in scanned form through the same Google Form on or before 19.11.2026. Without these certificates, applicants will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
3. Complete Annexure-I (the application format) and Annexure-II (the declaration), both duly signed, and submit them through the Google Form on or before 19.11.2026. Annexure-I has space for a passport size photograph.
4. If any near or distant relative is an employee of ICAR-CMFRI, declare the name, designation, nature of duties and relationship in writing in Annexure-II and communicate it through the Google Form on or before 19.11.2026.
5. Wait for the e-mail: shortlisted candidates are intimated by e-mail, and only those who receive the communication may appear for the walk-in interview on the specified date and time.

Annexure-I covers

• Name in block letters, father’s/husband’s name, category (SC/ST/OBC/General), date of birth, age as on 01.11.2026, gender.
• Correspondence and permanent addresses, e-mail ID and mobile numbers.
• Educational qualification from 10th class onwards, with marks given in percentage.
• Working/professional experience, current employment elsewhere (with NOC), research papers and achievements, desirable experience for the post, relatives at ICAR/CMFRI, and a signed self-declaration.

Documents named in the notice

• Biodata and scanned copies of all original certificates from matriculation onwards.
• Annexure-I and Annexure-II, duly signed.
• One valid ID proof, to be produced at the time of interview.
• No Objection Certificate from the present employer, if any.
• Approved conversion table/formula for marks issued as CGPA/OGPA, to be produced at reporting for the interview.

Selection and Interview

Shortlisted candidates are intimated by e-mail and only they may appear for the offline walk-in interview at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi, on 26 November 2026 at 10.00 AM. Important Instructions

• No TA/DA will be paid for appearing for the interview.
• Concealing facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.
• The competent authority has the right to terminate without assigning any reason at any time.
• If a candidate’s marks are in CGPA/OGPA and no approved conversion table/formula is produced at reporting, the candidature will not be considered.
• If a relative’s employment at ICAR/CMFRI is communicated or declared only on the interview date, the candidate will not be interviewed.
• Selected candidates shall not claim any regular appointment at the institute.
• The decision of the Director, ICAR-CMFRI is final and binding in all respects.
