Nationality

Applications are invited from citizens of India as defined under Article 5 and 6 of the Constitution of India.

Educational Qualification

In the application form, candidates must declare that they have the minimum qualification of Class VIII standard and have not passed HSSLC (12th) or above. A candidate who hides their highest educational qualification will have the candidature rejected and may also face other legal action. Age Limit

Age is counted as on the last date for receiving online applications.

For PwBD candidates, the upper age limit is relaxable by 10 years.

Other Conditions

• A person is not eligible for appointment if they have married someone who has a living spouse. The same applies to a person who has married again while their own spouse is living.
• A reservation claim must be backed by a certificate issued by the competent authority.
• A PwBD candidate must have a valid Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority.

How to Apply for Gauhati High Court Group-D (MTS)

You need a valid e-mail ID and mobile number to register. Keep the e-mail ID active. The system is meant to send an e-mail with the Registration Code, but the notice says this e-mail may not arrive because of network congestion. Write down your Registration Code yourself.

1. Go to https://ghconline.gov.in or https://ghcazlbench.nic.in/ between 3 November 2026 (from 3:00 PM) and 17 November 2026 (till office working hours).
2. Click on “Online application for the post of Group-D (MTS) in the Aizawl Bench of the Gauhati High Court”.
3. Register with your e-mail ID and mobile number, and note down the Registration Code.
4. Fill in the form with your photograph and signature. An incomplete form is liable to be rejected summarily, unless the High Court decides otherwise.
5. Upload clear scanned copies of the documents listed below.
6. Pay the application fee by 20 November 2026, within bank transaction hours.

Once you submit the application, you cannot change it. Applications sent in any other way will be rejected summarily, without any communication.

The fee is not refunded under any circumstances. It is also not kept in reserve for any other examination or selection process.

Selection and Interview

Selection has two stages: a written examination (Stage-I, 70 marks) and then an interview/viva-voce with document verification (Stage-II, 20 marks).

चयन प्रक्रिया दो चरणों में होती है: पहला लिखित परीक्षा जिसमें कुल 70 अंक होते हैं, और दूसरा साक्षात्कार जिसमें 20 अंक होते हैं।

Stage-I: Written Examination

The written examination has objective multiple-choice questions, answered on an OMR sheet. It lasts 1½ hours (90 minutes).

The Mizo language part is qualifying only. To pass the written examination, a candidate must score at least 40% in it, i.e. 8 out of 20 marks. Marks from the Mizo part are not counted when the merit list is prepared.

Stage-II: Interview/Viva-voce

Candidates are called for the interview/viva-voce and document verification on the basis of their written-examination merit, in the ratio of 1:3 (3 candidates for each post). To qualify, a candidate must score at least 60% in the interview, i.e. 12 out of 20 marks.

Final Selection

Final selection is based on the total marks from the written examination and the interview/viva-voce. If two or more candidates have the same total, the one with more written-examination marks is preferred. If those marks are also equal, the older candidate is preferred. The High Court reserves the right to fix or change the cut-off marks for the written examination and the viva-voce. Selected candidates may be assigned any Group-D position(s) based on administrative convenience.

Important Instructions

• The number of posts may go up or down at the time of final selection.
• Admission at every stage is provisional. A candidate found ineligible at any time, before or after selection, will have the candidature cancelled without notice. Being called for the written test or interview, or receiving an admit card or call letter, does not mean the candidature has been accepted.
• The provisional list of candidates and the reject list (if any) will be published on the High Court website.
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the written test or the interview.
• Candidates already in State, Central or PSU government service may apply after informing their employer. They must produce a “No Objection Certificate” at document verification and a “Release Order” at the time of appointment.
• Everything a candidate enters in the application binds them personally. The High Court is not responsible for mistakes in the form.
• Any candidate found canvassing, directly or indirectly, will be rejected.
• The High Court reserves the right to cancel the advertisement, fix the cut-off marks and change any terms and conditions at any stage. Matters not covered in the advertisement will be decided by the High Court.
