About IIIT Pune

IIIT Pune describes itself as an “Institute of National Importance”. It was set up by an act of Parliament under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Institute runs B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes from its permanent campus in the foothills of the Western Ghats at Talegaon (Maval), Dist. Pune, Maharashtra – 410507.

Assistant Professor, Grade-I (Level-12)

Vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are included within these numbers; the official notice gives the break-up.

The vacancies are tentative. The Institute reserves the right to change the number of posts and to fill all, some or none of them. Selected faculty get pay and allowances as applicable to Central Government employees stationed at IIIT Pune. With the approval of the Board of Governors, a deserving candidate may be offered a higher starting pay.

रिक्तियाँ विभिन्न श्रेणियों के लिए आरक्षित हैं और इसमें दिव्यांग उम्मीदवारों के लिए भी स्थान शामिल है। पदों की संख्या अभी अनुमानित है और संस्थान इसे बाद में बदल सकता है। चयनित उम्मीदवारों को केंद्र सरकार के नियमों के अनुसार वेतन और भत्ते मिलेंगे।

Departments and Preferred Specialisations (Annexure-I)

यहाँ तीन विभागों में विभिन्न विशेषज्ञताएँ मांगी गई हैं, जैसे कि कंप्यूटर साइंस में आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस और साइबर सिक्योरिटी, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स में वायरलेस कम्युनिकेशन और इम्बेडेड सिस्टम, तथा एप्लाइड साइंस में गणित और क्रिप्टोग्राफी। उम्मीदवारों को संबंधित विभाग की विशेषज्ञता के अनुसार चुना जाएगा।

IIIT Pune Assistant Professor Eligibility 2026

Age: The notice sets no upper age limit. It says fresh appointment beyond the age of 60 years is discouraged. The exception is faculty with an exceptionally brilliant research or academic career who have ongoing or approved externally funded research projects. Age is determined as on the last date of the advertisement, and age relaxation follows the applicable Government of India norms.

Nationality: Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs).

Mandatory Qualification and Experience (Annexure-II)

• All new entrants must have a Ph.D. in the relevant or equivalent discipline and a first class in the preceding degree(s). If the university or institution does not specify what counts as first class, minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA is treated as first class.
• Only continuous relevant experience on a regular scale of more than six months is counted.
• Candidates who obtained their Ph.D. from IIIT Pune are considered only if they have 3 years of outside experience after the Ph.D.
• Eligibility in all respects is judged on the closing date for online applications.

Preferred

• Post-doctoral experience in reputed institutions in India or abroad is an added advantage.
• Industry professionals can also apply if they have substantial professional and R&D experience and a good number of quality publications in leading journals or patents in the relevant field.
• Departments consider the specialisations in Annexure-I when they shortlist.

ग्रेड-I के लिए पीएचडी के बाद कम से कम 3 साल का अनुभव जरूरी है, जबकि ग्रेड-II के लिए अनुभव आवश्यक नहीं है। सभी उम्मीदवारों के पास संबंधित विषय में पीएचडी और पिछली डिग्री में प्रथम श्रेणी या समकक्ष अंक होने चाहिए। IIIT पुणे से पीएचडी करने वाले तभी आवेदन कर सकते हैं जब उनके पास पीएचडी के बाद 3 साल का बाहरी अनुभव हो।

How Credit Points Are Counted (Annexure-III, main items)

Annexure-III also awards points for administrative roles (such as HoD, Dean, Warden and committee chairs), workshops and FDPs, conferences organised, extra teaching, service beyond the minimum, outreach and placement results. The caps for these items are counted from the last appointment.

उम्मीदवारों को अनुभव और शोध के आधार पर क्रेडिट पॉइंट्स भी दिए जाते हैं, जैसे कि प्रोजेक्ट, पेटेंट, जर्नल पेपर, किताबें और शैक्षणिक नेतृत्व। ये पॉइंट्स ग्रेड-I के लिए जरूरी 20 क्रेडिट पॉइंट्स पूरी करने में मदद करते हैं।

Application Fee

The fee is non-refundable and is charged per department per post. It is paid online through the link on the recruitment portal. IIIT Pune’s regular employees pay no fee.

आवेदन शुल्क सामान्य/OBC/EWS के लिए 2360 रुपये है, जबकि SC/ST/महिला/दिव्यांग उम्मीदवारों के लिए 1180 रुपये है। शुल्क विभाग और पद के अनुसार अलग-अलग देना होता है और यह ऑनलाइन भुगतान करना अनिवार्य है।

Important Dates

ऑनलाइन आवेदन 29 अक्टूबर 2026 से शुरू होंगे और 28 नवंबर 2026 की रात 11:59 बजे खत्म होंगे। हार्ड कॉपी संस्थान को 9 दिसंबर 2026 शाम 5:30 बजे तक पहुंचानी जरूरी है।

Selection Process

Shortlisting

Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call. The Institute applies higher norms for screening, in the following order of priority:

Paid journals are not considered. Each department finalises its exact criteria on the recommendation of ACoFAR, with the Director’s approval. Screening committees may add further criteria, which can differ between posts and categories in the same department and which bind applicants.

सिर्फ न्यूनतम योग्यता पूरी करना चयन के लिए पर्याप्त नहीं है। ग्रेड-I के लिए तीन साल का पोस्ट-पीएचडी अनुभव और उच्च रैंक वाले संस्थानों या उद्योगों में काम का प्रमाण जरूरी है। ग्रेड-II में कम से कम एक डिग्री प्रतिष्ठित संस्थान से होनी चाहिए। गुणवत्ता वाले जर्नल में प्रकाशन भी जरूरी है।

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates are called to the IIIT Pune campus. They must produce all original documents, two sets of self-attested photocopies and a signed PDF copy of the online application form. Only candidates whose documents are verified can sit the written test. A mismatch with the online claims may lead to disqualification.

Stages

Selected candidates are informed by email or letter with the approval of the Competent Authority. No TA/DA is paid for attending any stage. All selection stages are held at Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune, Talegaon, Pune, Maharashtra – 410507.

चयन प्रक्रिया में दस्तावेजों की जांच के बाद लिखित परीक्षा होती है, जो केवल क्वालिफाईंग है। इसके बाद शोध, भविष्य की योजनाओं और शिक्षण क्षमता पर प्रस्तुति और साक्षात्कार होता है, जो अंतिम चयन तय करता है। चयन के लिए TA/DA नहीं दिया जाएगा।

Service Conditions

• Grade-II (Level-10): This post is purely contractual. The contract runs for one year from joining and is renewed every year on performance, up to a maximum of 5 years.
• Grade-I (Level-12): One year of probation, then regularisation if probation and the other Institute requirements are met. Probation may be extended.
• Appointees are covered under the National Pension Scheme (NPS 2004) as per Government of India rules.
• Additional incentives as per Institute norms: Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA), seed money, reimbursement of Children Education Allowance, medical facilities and Leave Travel Concession.
• Appointments and pay fixation are subject to approval by the Board of Governors.

ग्रेड-II पद अनुबंध पर है जो एक वर्ष का होता है और प्रदर्शन पर 5 वर्ष तक बढ़ सकता है। ग्रेड-I पद नियमित है जिसमें एक वर्ष का प्रोबेशन होता है। दोनों पदों के लिए राष्ट्रीय पेंशन योजना लागू है और संस्थान की सुविधाएँ मिलती हैं।

How to Apply for IIIT Pune Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026

1. Go to the E-Samarth recruitment portal (www.iiitp.ac.in) and register.
2. Read the instructions, check your eligibility, fill in the online form and upload scanned copies of the relevant documents, with conclusive evidence for every claim.
3. Pay the fee through the portal link.
4. Note the unique E-Samarth Form No. generated after submission. It identifies you for the written test and interview, and no enquiry about a lost Form No. is entertained.
5. Print the submitted form with all uploaded documents and the fee payment proof.
6. Serially number and self-attest every page. Arrange the pages in the order of Annexure-IV (Document Checklist/Index), then fill in and sign Annexure-IV.
7. Write on the envelope: “Application for the post of ____, Level ____ in the Department of ____, E-Samarth Form No. ____”.
8. Send it by speed/registered post, or hand it in, to: The Registrar, Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune, PO – Talegaon, Pune, Maharashtra – 410507. It must arrive by the hard-copy deadline.

Eligibility is decided only from the hard copy received in time. No documents are accepted after that date, and the Institute is not responsible for postal delay or loss. A submitted online application cannot be changed.

आवेदन के लिए पहले ऑनलाइन फॉर्म भरना और दस्तावेज अपलोड करना आवश्यक है, फिर प्रिंट निकालकर सभी दस्तावेज क्रमवार लगाकर हस्ताक्षरित हार्ड कॉपी भेजनी होगी। हार्ड कॉपी समय पर पहुंचना जरूरी है; बाद में कोई दस्तावेज स्वीकार नहीं होगा।

10. OBC-NCL / EWS certificate in the Central Government format, valid for the current financial year
11. NOC from the present employer, where applicable

14. Any other document supporting your claims

आवेदन के साथ सभी जरूरी दस्तावेजों की सूची दी गई है, जिसमें शैक्षणिक प्रमाणपत्र, जाति प्रमाणपत्र, अनुभव पत्र, पहचान पत्र आदि शामिल हैं। इन्हें सही क्रम में लगाकर और हस्ताक्षर करके भेजना अनिवार्य है।

Other Conditions

• Candidates in Govt. / Semi Govt. / PSUs / universities / educational institutions must apply through proper channel, or bring an NOC and vigilance clearance certificate to the written test or interview. They may send an advance copy before the last date. Without these documents they will not be interviewed.
• Each post or department needs a separate application and fee. A single form that covers more than one post is rejected.
• Incomplete applications, or those without the fee receipt or supporting documents, are rejected.
• SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS certificates must be issued by an officer not below the rank of Tahsildar or First-Class Magistrate. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates must be valid on the last date of application, or renewed by document verification.
• PwBD candidates need a medical certificate showing 40% or more disability.
• Give two references who know your work and character. Employed candidates should preferably include their most recent employer.
• Give full details of any arrest, prosecution, conviction, debarment or pending case on a separate sheet.
• Canvassing in any form leads to immediate disqualification.
• All updates, corrigenda and shortlists appear only on the Institute website, and all messages go to the email ID given in the form. Legal disputes fall under the courts at Pune only.

सरकारी या शैक्षणिक संस्थान के कर्मचारी को उचित माध्यम से आवेदन करना होगा या NOC और क्लियरेंस लेकर आना होगा। हर पद के लिए अलग आवेदन और शुल्क देना जरूरी है। अधूरा आवेदन या गलत दस्तावेज अस्वीकृत होंगे। जाति और दिव्यांगता प्रमाणपत्र मान्य फॉर्मेट और अवधि के अनुसार होने चाहिए। गलत जानकारी देने पर आवेदन रद्द हो सकता है।
