The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, is hiring 5 people on contract for an ICMR-funded geriatric trauma project in its Department of Emergency Medicine & Trauma. The posts are 4 Project Nurse-III posts at Rs 33,600 a month and 1 Project Technical Support-II post at Rs 24,000 a month. Both amounts include 20% HRA. The posts are initially for one year and can be extended, based on performance, up to the end of the project on 30 November 2029. Project Nurse-III needs a B.Sc. Nursing (four-year course) with nursing council registration. Project Technical Support-II needs 12th in Science with a diploma and experience, or a graduate degree with experience. Who Can Apply

Project Nurse-III

• Essential: B.Sc. Nursing (four-year course) with minimum second class or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university with registration in the State/Indian Nursing Council.
• Desirable: Experience in emergency, trauma, critical care or geriatric nursing; experience in clinical research and data collection; fluency in Tamil.

Project Technical Support-II

• Essential: 12th in Science + Diploma (MLT/DMLT / Engineering or equivalent) + Five Years Experience in relevant subject/field, OR Three Years Graduate degree in relevant subject/field + two years’ experience in relevant subject.
• Desirable: Experience in research data management (MS Excel, REDCap/EpiData or similar software); proficiency in Tamil and English.

Age Limit

The age limit for each post is counted as on the last date of receipt of applications.

For both posts, there is a relaxation of up to 5 years for candidates with experience in a Government research organisation, as per ICMR norms.

Experience Rules

The qualification and experience must be in a relevant discipline or field and from a reputed institution or organisation. The experience must have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification. For the discipline-specific eligibility of each post, candidates should check the official notification.

Pay and Tenure

The pay for both posts is a consolidated monthly amount that includes 20% HRA. No other allowances are paid. The notice adds that the consolidated salary may change from time to time. No other allowances or facilities are given apart from the consolidated salary.

Both posts are purely on contract for an externally sponsored project. The person engaged will have no claim to any regular post at JIPMER at any time. The post lasts only as long as the project and depends entirely on external funding. The engagement may be extended or cut short at the discretion of the Project Investigator.

JIPMER Recruitment 2026 Job Description

Project Nurse-III

• Screen adults aged 60 years and above who come to the Emergency Department with trauma to check their eligibility, and assess frailty using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS).
• Obtain informed consent from patients or their legally acceptable representatives (LAR) as per the approved protocol, in Tamil and English.
• Activate and coordinate the frailty-triggered co-management pathway with the emergency, trauma and geriatric teams, and record time-stamped process measures.
• Perform daily delirium screening (CAM-ICU) and record clinical data in the Case Record Forms.
• Provide counselling on transitional care before discharge and make warm referrals. Carry out the community contact 7 to 14 days after discharge and the 90-day structured follow-up by telephone and field/home visits.
• Work in rotational shifts, including nights, Sundays and holidays, as required by the project.
• Any other project-related work assigned by the PI from time to time.

Project Technical Support-II

• Data entry, cleaning and management of the study database; maintain Case Record Forms and study records.
• Extract time-stamped process data from the Hospital Information System; maintain follow-up schedules and tracking logs.
• Assist with telephone follow-up, report preparation, procurement records and other administrative work for the project.
• Any other project-related work assigned by the PI from time to time.

For both posts, the duties listed are indicative and not exhaustive. Project staff must carry out any work the PI assigns in the interest of the project, including shift duty, field visits and administrative tasks. Refusing assigned work will be treated as unsatisfactory performance and may lead to termination of the engagement without notice. Applications are sent by email only, using the prescribed application form (REC-03) attached to the advertisement.

1. Print the application form on A4 paper and fill it in using block letters and a blue pen. Strike out the post you are not applying for.
2. Affix a recent passport-size photograph in the space given. Do not staple it.
3. Fill in your educational qualifications, previous jobs, a description of your experience (up to 500 words), any research experience or publications, and whether you are willing to do field visits. Also give your previous employers’ contact details and sign the declaration.
4. Scan the filled form, your CV and the self-attested supporting documents into one PDF. Arrange the documents in the order of the form’s checklist.
5. Name the PDF “Candidate name_Post-name_year_application”. The notice gives the example “James_DEO_2023_application”.

Selection and Interview

Applicants will be shortlisted using the details in their application, their CV and the documentary proof they provide. The list of eligible candidates will also be displayed on the JIPMER website. Final selection will be based on the CV, the application and a written test/interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview. If there are a very large number of applications, stricter criteria than those listed may be used to decide eligibility. The Project Investigator’s decision will be final.

After the application forms are evaluated, the notice lists these stages:

The interview may be held in person or by videoconferencing, at the discretion of the Principal Investigator. For a video interview, candidates are responsible for having a suitable device (computer, laptop or mobile) with audio and camera and a good internet connection. The date and time of the interview will be announced one week in advance. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
