Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has announced POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Recruitment 2026 for 319 vacancies through GATE 2026.

The recruitment is for Engineer Trainee posts in Electrical, Civil and Computer Science disciplines. Candidates must possess the prescribed full-time engineering qualification and a valid qualifying GATE 2026 score in the corresponding paper.

POWERGRID में 319 इंजीनियर प्रशिक्षणार्थी पदों के लिए भर्ती GATE 2026 स्कोर के आधार पर होगी, जिसमें इलेक्ट्रिकल, सिविल और कंप्यूटर साइंस शाखाएं शामिल हैं। आवेदन ऑनलाइन 3 नवंबर से शुरू होकर 18 नवंबर तक होंगे, और उम्र सीमा 31 दिसंबर 2025 तक अधिकतम 28 वर्ष है।

A total of 319 Engineer Trainee vacancies have been notified across Electrical, Civil and Computer Science disciplines.

The original detailed advertisement also referred to Electronics as a tentative discipline through GATE EC. However, the 03 November 2026 vacancy notice provides vacancies only for Electrical, Civil and Computer Science. Therefore, the present vacancy total of 319 includes only these three disciplines.

Candidates must have appeared in and qualified the corresponding GATE 2026 paper. GATE scores from previous years are not valid for this recruitment.

POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Qualification

The qualification should be a full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc. Engineering degree from a recognized University or Institute.

GATE 2026 Requirement

• Electrical candidates must qualify GATE 2026 EE paper.
• Civil candidates must qualify GATE 2026 CE paper.
• Computer Science candidates must qualify GATE 2026 CS paper.
• Only GATE 2026 score is valid.

During Training

After Successful Training

The compensation package may include applicable IDA, HRA or accommodation, cafeteria benefits, Performance Related Pay, PF, gratuity, pension, medical benefits, insurance and other benefits according to POWERGRID rules.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to complete the prescribed training and thereafter serve POWERGRID for at least 3 years, subject to the bond conditions in the detailed advertisement.

POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid through the online payment facility provided in the application portal.

सामान्य, ओबीसी (एनसीएल) और ईडब्ल्यूएस वर्ग के उम्मीदवारों को 500 रुपये आवेदन शुल्क देना होगा, जबकि SC, ST, PwBD, पूर्व सैनिक और विभागीय उम्मीदवार शुल्क से मुक्त हैं। यह शुल्क ऑनलाइन भुगतान के माध्यम से देना अनिवार्य है।

The upper age limit is 28 years as on 31 December 2025.

Category-based relaxation applies subject to the reservation conditions prescribed in the detailed advertisement.

POWERGRID Engineer Trainee Selection Process

There is no separate POWERGRID written examination for this recruitment. Selection is based on the candidate’s valid GATE 2026 score followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Shortlisting

Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for Group Discussion and Personal Interview on the basis of their normalized marks out of 100 in the corresponding GATE 2026 paper.

Group Discussion

Group Discussion carries 3% weightage and does not have separate qualifying marks.

Personal Interview Qualifying Marks

Candidates may participate in Group Discussion and Interview in either Hindi or English.

Medical Examination

Final appointment is subject to the candidate being found medically fit according to POWERGRID’s prescribed pre-employment medical standards.
