Jadavpur University, Kolkata invites applications from Indian Nationals for one post of Registrar (UR) at Rs. 1,44,200 in Pay Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200 – 2,18,200), under Employment Notification No. A2/C/3/2026 dated 3 November 2026. Candidates need a Master’s Degree with minimum 55% marks and at least 15 years’ relevant experience. Jadavpur University is a university in Kolkata – 700 032. This notice is issued in its name and signed by the Registrar (Actg.). It continues the University’s earlier Employment Notification No. A2/C/03/2025 dated 12 November 2025 for the same post.

Who Can Apply

The University invites applications from Indian Nationals in the prescribed form. Essential requirements, as printed:

• Uniformly good academic record with a Master’s Degree with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the point scale wherever a grading system is followed.
• At least 15 years’ experience as Sr. Lecturer / Reader / Assistant Professor in the AGP of Rs.7000/- and above, or with 8 years of service in the AGP of Rs.8000/- and above including as Associate Professor, along with experience in educational administration in Academic Institutions like University, or in an Institute of Higher Learning, of which 5 (five) years must be in a University or in an Institute of Post Graduate Study.
• OR comparable experience in research establishments and other institutions of higher learning.
• OR 15 (Fifteen) years’ administrative experience, of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Registrar or equivalent post.
• Age not less than 40 years. This is relaxable in case of exceptionally qualified candidates.

Qualifications, experience and age are recognised till the last date of submission of application. Those already in service should apply through proper channel.

Desirable

• A Doctorate Degree or published research work of merit.
• High level of administrative experience in a government or Quasi Government organization, or a good background in administration and management in senior position.

The essential qualifications are the minimum; mere possession of them does not entitle applicants to be called for interview. Equivalence of academic or research experience, publications and relevant or allied subjects may be decided by the screening committee. Candidates should check the official notification for any further detail on eligibility.

The pay is Rs. 1,44,200 at Pay Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200 – 2,18,200/-). The notice does not mention allowances, contract term or probation.

How to Apply for JU Registrar

1. Download the blank application form in pdf format from the JU website, www.jadavpuruniversity.in.
2. Pay the application fee of Rs. 500/- (US $ 50.00 or its rupee equivalent for an Indian citizen staying outside) as indicated on the JU website. Options are net banking, debit / credit / Rupay card, or challan for cash payment at SBI branches. Use any one option for payment from within India.
3. Take a printout of the payment receipt or challan.
4. Submit seven hard copies of the complete application form (one original and seven photocopies) along with all enclosures, including attested or self-attested photocopies of all certificates and testimonials (in a single copy).
5. Send the application under Certificate of Posting, preferably by Registered Post, to the Vice-Chancellor, Jadavpur University, Aurobindo Bhavan, 188, Raja S.C. Mallick Road, Jadavpur, Kolkata – 700 032. It can also be handed in at the Information Office on all working days between 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
6. Write the name of the post applied for and the Advertisement Number on the envelope.

The deadline for submitting the application is 25 November 2026, and the payment link closes at 04.00 p.m. The University is not liable for postal delay or email glitches. Incomplete applications are rejected without any intimation.

Selection Process

The notice describes screening followed by an interview before the Selection Committee.

• If many applications are received and it is not convenient to interview everyone, the Screening Committee may restrict the number of candidates called for interview. It may use qualifications, experience and other credentials or any other suitable method.
• Only shortlisted candidates are communicated for interview, at the postal address and email address registered during application.
• Shortlisted candidates must be present physically before the Selection Committee on the day of the interview, with no exception.
• Photocopies of all testimonials and certificates must be submitted at the interview (if called), and originals are required for verification.
• Selection need not be confined only to those who formally apply.
