Indian Statistical Institute is an autonomous body funded by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India. The institute’s headquarters is situated at 203, B. T. Road, Kolkata – 700 108. The engagement for this Research Associate position is being made purely on a temporary basis within the Statistical Quality Control & Operations Research (SQC & OR) Division.

यह संस्थान भारत सरकार के सांख्यिकी मंत्रालय द्वारा वित्त पोषित है और कोलकाता में स्थित है। इस पद पर अस्थायी आधार पर नियुक्ति होगी, जो सांख्यिकीय गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण और संचालन अनुसंधान विभाग में होगी।

Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions as specified in the recruitment notice:

• Nationality: Indian Nationals only.
• Educational Qualification: PhD in Statistics / Mathematics / Computer Science / Engineering.
• Competencies & Skills: Knowledge of Reliability/ Survival Analysis/ Statistical Learning/ Machine Learning, and proficiency in R/ Python or any other programming language.
• Age Limit: Upper age limit shall be 35 years as on 01 October 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may also be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience.

The selected Research Associate (RA-I) will receive a pay of Rs. 58,000/- (Rupees fifty-eight thousand only) plus House Rent Allowance as per the rules of the Institute per month.

The tenure will be initially up to 31 March 2027 from the date of joining the Institute. The engagement may be extended later or terminated earlier depending on the availability of funds and candidate performance. Based on performance, the term of research associateship may be extended up to a maximum of two years, as per the discretion of the Institute.

Engagement of the Research Associate will take place in line with Office Order No. D.O./2024/183 dated 20 June 2024 and Office Memorandum No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30 January 2019 of the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The selected candidate will work in the Statistical Quality Control & Operations Research Division in Kolkata on the following broad areas of work:

• Lifetime Data Analysis
• Applications of Machine Learning to Reliability/ Survival Analysis

इस पद पर काम करते हुए उम्मीदवार को जीवनकाल डेटा विश्लेषण और मशीन लर्निंग का उपयोग विश्वसनीयता और सर्वाइवल एनालिसिस में करना होगा।

1. Prepare a cover letter and a curriculum vitae merged together as a single PDF file addressed to the Head, Statistical Quality Control and Operations Research Division of the Indian Statistical Institute.

The selection process comprises initial shortlisting based on applications, followed by an assessment in Kolkata:
