Pay and Tenure

• The engagement is for one year from the date of joining and stands automatically terminated unless extended before the date of expiry.
• The engaged person receives ₹35,000 per month for the eligible working period, excluding the duly notified summer and winter vacation periods.
• No remuneration or other monetary benefit is payable during the notified vacation period; the person remains on vacation without pay.
• Either party can end the engagement with 15 days’ prior notice or by depositing 15 days’ remuneration in lieu; no reasons are communicated.
• One casual leave per month is allowed, subject to approval by the competent authority.
• Applicable taxes, including TDS, are deducted as per Income Tax Rules and other rules.

HPNLU Counsellor Job Description

The notice states the following duties and obligations for the Counsellor:

• Devote whole time to the duties assigned by the University and not engage directly or indirectly in any trade, business or occupation on own account.
• Maintain appropriate records of students in physical and digital form, transfer them to the University administration from time to time, and hand over the data to the Registrar at the end of the engagement.
• Keep strict confidentiality of all records of students and employees disclosed in sessions. The notice says confidentiality may be broken if there is risk of harm to self or others, student or elder abuse, or genuine threats, with information shared in emergencies only with prior approval of the Competent Authority.

How to Apply for HPNLU Counsellor

1. Register on the ERP Portal of HPNLU, Shimla (https://erphpnlu.in) and fill in the prescribed online application form. The form is also available on the University’s website, https://hpnlu.ac.in.
2. Submit the application between 5 November 2026 and 27 November 2026, 05:00 PM. Offline applications are not accepted.
3. The application fee is a non-refundable ₹500.
4. Attend the walk-in interview with the hardcopy of the duly filled application form and the required certificates/documents in original.

Incomplete applications, or those without relevant supporting enclosures/attachments, will be rejected outright.

Selection and Interview

Selection is through a walk-in interview, tentatively on 29 November 2026 (05:00 PM). Candidates must produce original documents at the interview for verification, and only the documents submitted while filling the application are accepted for verification. Candidates found ineligible during document verification will not be allowed to take the interview. The notice does not mention the interview venue or the marking scheme. Important Instructions

• The University reserves the right to fill the post or not, increase or reduce the number of posts, or cancel the advertisement without assigning any reason.
