A total of 37 vacancies are available for the grant of Short Service Commission to desirous civilian Dental Surgeons in the Army Dental Corps.

Army Dental Corps SSC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualification

• BDS (with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in final year BDS) or MDS degree, from a College/University recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI) for the respective batch/year of graduation.
• Candidates must have registered themselves as Registered Dental Practitioners with any State Dental Council.
• Must have completed a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship, as mandated by DCI, by 30 June 2026. No condonation of the internship period is accepted, except for specific historical batches (2007-08 batch with 4.5-year BDS + 6 months’ internship, and the 2006-07 Rajah Muthiah Dental College batch with a 5-year BDS course without internship).
• Must possess a Permanent or Provisional Dental Registration Certificate from a State Dental Council/DCI, valid at least up to 31 December 2026.
• Must have mandatorily appeared in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, NEET (MDS)-2026, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, on 02 May 2026, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

• Matriculation (Class X)/SSLC/ICSE certificate or Birth certificate issued by a municipality, as valid proof of age.
• NEET (MDS)-2026 Admit Card.

• Final year BDS Mark Sheets (Part I & Part II, if the final year exam was held in two parts), showing a minimum of 55% marks in final BDS — or an MDS degree.

Army Dental Corps SSC Recruitment 2026 Application Processing Fee

Candidates are required to make an online payment of ₹200 (Rupees Two Hundred only) towards the DGAFMS (APF Fund), along with the application. Candidates must ensure all details are correctly entered before submitting the payment. Incomplete applications, or applications not in accordance with instructions, will not be considered and are liable to be rejected.

Army Dental Corps SSC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

a. Screening for Interview

Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on the marks scored in NEET (MDS)-2026. The list formulated will be used for screening candidates in a ratio of 1:10 — for each advertised vacancy, ten candidates will be called for interview.

b. Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be called to appear before a duly constituted Selection Board at New Delhi, to assess suitability and merit for grant of SSC. The final merit list for grant of SSC in Army Dental Corps is based on interview performance alone.

c. Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify the interview must mandatorily undergo a detailed Medical Examination by a duly constituted Medical Board of the Armed Forces Medical Services, to ascertain their medical fitness. The decision of the Medical Board is final. Candidates declared unfit are classified as Temporary Unfit as per the outcome of the commissioning medical examination.

Document Verification

Candidates shortlisted for interview must produce all original certificates, including the application/admit card, for verification at the time of interview. Candidates without original documents at the time of interview will not be eligible, even if they possess the necessary merit. Candidates who have deposited original documents with another institution may attend the interview by producing a deposit certificate from the Dean/Head of that institution, along with attested photocopies.

• On commission, candidates are granted the rank of Captain in Pay Level 10B (₹61,300 – ₹1,20,900) of the Defence Pay Matrix, as per Army Pay Rules 2017 (7th Pay Commission).
• Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500 per month.
• Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) at 20% of Basic Pay.
• House Rent Allowance (HRA), as per city category (X/Y/Z), and Dearness Allowance as admissible.
• Field Area Allowance, High Altitude Allowance, and Siachen Allowance, as applicable depending on rank and area of posting.
• Dress Allowance of ₹20,000 per year on commission.
• Transport Allowance (TPTA): ₹7,200 + DA per month (Higher TPTA cities) or ₹3,600 + DA per month (other cities), applicable for Level 9 and above.

Army Dental Corps SSC Recruitment 2026 Terms & Conditions of Service

• Tenure: 5 years, extendable by a further 9 years in two spells (5 years, then 4 years) — total SSC tenure of up to 14 years for those willing to continue, subject to vacancies and eligibility.
• Probation: 12 months from the date of receiving Commission.
• Antedate Seniority: BDS graduates with at least 6 months’ paid appointment (House Officer/Resident Demonstrator/Lecturer/Clinical Assistant) are eligible for 6 months’ antedate seniority; MDS degree holders (3-year PG) are eligible for 36 months’ antedate seniority. Maximum antedate seniority is capped at 36 months; claims must be made within one year of joining service.
• Termination: Commission may be terminated by the Government of India at any time for misconduct, unsatisfactory service, or if services are no longer required.
• Liability of Service: Officers are liable for service in any part of the country or abroad, in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, as per service requirements.
• Training: After commissioning, candidates undergo training at Government expense at AMC Centre & College, Lucknow.
• Departmental Permanent Commission (DPC): After 2 years of SSC service, officers may apply for a limited number of Permanent Commission vacancies, provided they have not attained 30 years (BDS) or 35 years (MDS) of age as on 31 December of the application year.
• Promotion: Commissioned as Captain on entry; eligible for promotion to Major (or equivalent) after 4 years 6 months of service, and to Lt Col (or equivalent) after 11 years 6 months of service. MDS degree holders (3-year course) get 3 years’ antedate seniority and are promoted to Substantive Major after 1 year 6 months of service.

Candidates appearing for interview for the first time are entitled to “To and Fro” First Class/AC-III/AC Chair Car railway fare by Mail/Express train, or actual Government bus fare if travelling by bus, to New Delhi (Interview Centre) and back, payable by CDA. Candidates appearing for a second or subsequent time are not eligible for this entitlement.
