Tamil Nadu TNTET Notification 2026 for Working Teachers – Eligibility, Dates, Application

The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu has released the TNTET Notification 2026 (Notification No. 02/2026, dated 26/10/2026) for the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test for Working Teachers – October 2026. Eligible in-service teachers appointed on or before 01/09/2025 can apply online for Paper I and Paper II from 27/10/2026 to 19/11/2026 at trb.tn.gov.in. The exam is tentatively scheduled for 20/12/2026.

अगर आप 01/09/2025 तक नियुक्त काम कर रहे शिक्षक हैं, तो आप TNTET 2026 के लिए ऑनलाइन आवेदन कर सकते हैं। परीक्षा में दो पेपर होंगे और आवेदन प्रक्रिया पूरी तरह ऑनलाइन है। यह परीक्षा तमिलनाडु सरकार के टीचर्स रिक्रूटमेंट बोर्ड द्वारा आयोजित की जाती है।

TNTET 2026 Important Dates

आवेदन 27 अक्टूबर से शुरू होकर 19 नवंबर 2026 तक ऑनलाइन जमा किए जा सकते हैं। आवेदन में गलती सुधारने का मौका 20 से 22 नवंबर तक मिलेगा। परीक्षा 20 दिसंबर को दोपहर और सुबह सत्र में आयोजित होगी।

Who Can Apply for TNTET 2026 for Working Teachers?

The test is open only to working teachers appointed on or before 01/09/2025. The notification covers these teachers:

• Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT)
• Graduate Teachers (BT Assistants)
• BRTEs and other equivalent cadre teachers
• Special Education Teachers (IEDSS)

TNTET 2026 Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold the prescribed qualification as on the date of notification. The qualification routes are different for Paper I and Paper II.

TNTET Paper I Qualification

• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002
• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
• Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.

TNTET Paper II Qualification

• Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
• At least 50% marks in Graduation or Post Graduation and B.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 45% marks (SC/ST/BC/MBC/DNC/PH candidates) and B.Ed., as per NCTE norms
• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
• Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education), or at least 50% marks in Graduation or Post Graduation and B.Ed. (Special Education)

TNTET 2026 Age Limit

The official notification does not mention any age limit.

TNTET 2026 Application Fee

• Paper I and Paper II need separate applications with separate fees.
• Payment is accepted only online through the payment gateway (net banking, credit card or debit card). Demand drafts, postal orders and other offline payments are not accepted.
• The fee is not refundable and cannot be adjusted for any future test, including when it is paid more than once.
• Select your community or disability category correctly, because the fee differs by category.

सामान्य वर्ग के लिए आवेदन शुल्क 600 रुपए है, जबकि SC/ST और विकलांग उम्मीदवारों के लिए 300 रुपए है। पेपर I और II के लिए अलग-अलग आवेदन और शुल्क देना होगा। भुगतान केवल ऑनलाइन स्वीकार किया जाता है और यह वापस नहीं मिलता।

TNTET 2026 Exam Pattern

Both papers have 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, to be completed in 3 hours. The exam is objective type and OMR based. The notification does not mention negative marking.

TNTET 2026 Syllabus Level

• Paper I questions are based on the State syllabus for Classes I to V, with the standard and linkages up to the Secondary stage.
• Paper II questions are based on the State syllabus for Classes VI to VIII, with the standard and linkages up to the Higher Secondary (Senior Secondary) stage.
• For Child Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics and Environmental Studies/Science/Social Science, candidates choose Tamil or English as the medium of the question paper.

TNTET 2026 Qualifying Marks

Candidates who secure these marks in Paper I or Paper II are issued the respective TNTET Eligibility Certificate.

परीक्षा में पास होने के लिए सामान्य वर्ग को 60%, अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग को 50% और आरक्षित वर्ग व विकलांग उम्मीदवारों को 40% अंक प्राप्त करने होते हैं। सफल उम्मीदवारों को TNTET पात्रता प्रमाणपत्र दिया जाता है।

How to Apply for TNTET 2026 Online

1. Go to the official TRB website, www.trb.tn.gov.in.
2. Open the TNTET for Working Teachers (October 2026) application link.
3. Register with a valid e-mail ID and mobile number. Both are mandatory and must stay active until the results are declared.
4. Fill in the personal, educational and service details carefully.
5. Upload the photograph, signature, Service Certificate (Annexure-I), community certificate and educational certificates in the prescribed format and size.
6. Pay the fee online through the payment gateway. An SMS alert confirms successful payment.
7. Submit the application on or before 19/11/2026. Use the edit option from 20/11/2026 to 22/11/2026 if corrections are needed.
8. If you are applying for both papers, repeat the process with a separate application and separate fee.

All documents must be uploaded at the time of applying. Applications without the photograph, signature or required certificates are rejected.

The certificates and mark statements to upload are:

• 10th / SSLC
• 12th / Higher Secondary or equivalent
• Diploma in Teacher Education / Elementary Education / Teacher Education (Special Education)
• B.El.Ed. (4 years) or equivalent: consolidated marksheet or all semester marksheets in a single PDF, and degree or provisional certificate
• 4-year integrated B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.: marksheets and degree or provisional certificate
• UG degree in the relevant subject or equivalent: marksheets and degree or provisional certificate
• B.Ed. / Special B.Ed. or equivalent, and the IEDSS qualifications mentioned in G.O.(Ms).No.88 dated 13/03/2026: marksheets and degree or provisional certificate

आवेदन के समय पासपोर्ट साइज फोटो, हस्ताक्षर और सभी जरूरी प्रमाणपत्र जैसे सेवा प्रमाणपत्र, जाति प्रमाणपत्र और शैक्षिक प्रमाणपत्र अपलोड करना अनिवार्य है, अन्यथा आवेदन रद्द हो जाएगा।

Important Instructions for TNTET 2026 Candidates

• Details entered in the application, including name, test paper, community category, date of birth and address, are treated as final. Corrections are possible only during the edit option.
• Candidates must hold the prescribed qualification as on the date of notification. Being allowed to appear in the exam does not mean eligibility has been verified.
• Candidates with pending criminal or disciplinary cases must upload the FIR or memorandum of charges, and those with convictions must upload the relevant court orders.
• Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices and other electronic gadgets are not allowed inside the examination centre, even when switched off.
• Hall tickets are uploaded on the TRB website and in the candidate dashboard. They are not sent by post, and no individual written communication is sent.
• Exam centres will be allotted in all districts at the Board’s discretion. The centre, date and time are given on the hall ticket.
• Scribe assistance is allowed for eligible differently abled candidates, based on claims in the application and the disability or Medical Board certificate.
