Applications are invited for two Project Associate -1 positions for research purposes under a CSR grant for using AI in Material Science/Characterization. The project will be executed at Panjab University, Chandigarh, under Professor Gaurav Verma. The fellowship is 31,000/- plus HRA to Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship/GATE/Central Government national level exams) and 25,000/- plus HRA for others. Interested candidates should send the application by post in the prescribed format available on pages 4-6 to the undersigned on or before 4.00 P.M. on 06.11.2026, mentioning the name of the Post in the Envelope.

Vacancy Details

There are a total of 02 (two) posts for Project Associate-I.

Who Can Apply

Candidates must meet the following criteria set by Panjab University:

• Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
• Desirable: M.Sc.in Chemistry /Physics /Material Science/Bio-Technology/Bioinformatics or related disciplines OR M. Tech/ M.E in Chemical/Biochemical/Biotechnology Engg./ Materials/ Nanotechnology or equivalent degrees. Candidates having experience in Physical & Chemical analysis, AI (coding) and instrumentation.
• Fellowship (i): 31,000/- + HRA to Scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests- CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government departments and their agencies and institutions.
• Fellowship (ii): 25,000/- + HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above.
• Age: Preferably not more than 35 years as on closing date of Advertisement.

Pay and Tenure

The initial offer will be for one year and renewable for up to two more years subject to satisfactory performance. The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project (may be terminated anytime due to non-performance and withdrawal of the grant). Fellowship is 31,000/- + HRA or 25,000/- + HRA depending on qualification category.

Selection and Interview

List of shortlisted candidates for further selection process will be notified through email only. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer. Candidates selected for this position can also apply for the regular PhD program of Panjab University Chandigarh, provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria (www.puchd.ac.in).
