MPBOU Professor, Associate Professor & Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 – Important Dates

A total of 40 vacancies are available – 2 for Professor, 5 for Associate Professor, and 33 for Assistant Professor.

“W” indicates a post reserved for women candidates. Additionally, per the terms and conditions: 1 Professor post is reserved for candidates with Visual Impairment and Low Vision; 1 Associate Professor post is reserved for candidates with Locomotor Disability; and among Assistant Professor posts, 1 post is reserved for Deaf and Hard of Hearing candidates and 1 post for candidates with Visual Impairment and Low Vision.

Eligibility for all posts is governed by the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers, 2018, as amended.

MPBOU Assistant Professor Qualification

For Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Information Technology, Journalism & Mass Communication, Management, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Sociology and Zoology, candidates need either:

• A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/ relevant/ allied subject from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, plus a qualifying NET/ CSIR-NET/ SLET/ SET score – or a Ph.D. awarded under UGC (M.Phil./ Ph.D.) Regulations 2009 or 2016 (subject to the specified conditions, which exempts the candidate from NET/ SLET/ SET); or
• A Ph.D. from a foreign university/ institution ranked among the top 500 globally in the QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) rankings at any time.

Separate qualification norms apply for Assistant Professor (Education) – Post-Graduate degree in Social Sciences/ Sciences/ Humanities with minimum 55% marks, M.Ed. with minimum 55%, plus NET/ SLET/ SET or equivalent Ph.D. exemption – and for Assistant Professor (Management) – Master’s in Business Administration/ PGDM/ CA/ ICWA with First Class plus two years’ professional experience, along with NET/ SLET/ SET or equivalent Ph.D. exemption.

The relevant/ allied Master’s subjects accepted for each core subject (e.g., Microbiology, Bio-Technology, Genetics and others for Botany; Computer Applications, MCA, M.Tech for Computer Science/ IT) are listed in the official notification.

• A good academic record with a Ph.D. in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline
• A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks
• A minimum of 8 years of teaching and/ or research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor, with at least 7 publications in peer-reviewed/ UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 75 (as per the notification’s Academic and Research Score criteria)

Either:

• An eminent scholar with a Ph.D. in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/ UGC-listed journals, a total research score of 120, and at least 10 years of teaching/ research experience as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/ Professor, with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates; or
• An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. in a relevant/ allied/ applied discipline (from academic institutions or industry) who has made a significant contribution to the field, supported by documentary evidence, with 10 years of relevant experience.

MPBOU Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process involves screening followed by an interview:

• For Assistant Professor, candidates are shortlisted using an Academic Record score (based on Graduation, Post-Graduation, M.Phil., Ph.D., NET/ JRF/ SLET/ SET, research publications, teaching/ post-doctoral experience, and awards), as detailed in Annexure-III, out of a total of 100 marks.
• For Associate Professor and Professor, candidates are shortlisted using an Academic and Research Score (ARS) covering research papers, publications, ICT/ e-content contributions, research guidance and projects, patents/ policy documents/ awards, and invited lectures/ conference papers, as detailed in Annexure-IV.
• In both cases, meeting the eligibility conditions does not guarantee an interview call – the university applies stringent shortlisting criteria and may place a reasonable limit on the number of candidates called for interview.
• Final selection is based on performance in the interview; the academic/ research score is used only for short-listing purposes.

MPBOU does not have a fully online application submission portal for this recruitment. The process is as follows:

1. Download the prescribed application format (Annexure-I) and other required annexures from the official website, https:/ / mpbou.edu.in, and print it on A-4 size paper.
2. Pay the application fee online through net banking/ RTGS to the bank account specified above, and keep the payment receipt.
3. Fill in the application form completely, attach self-attested photocopies of all relevant certificates/ mark sheets, the fee payment receipt, and category/ disability certificates where applicable. Assistant Professor applicants must submit Annexure-I and Annexure-III (and Annexure-V where a Ph.D.-based NET/ SLET/ SET exemption is claimed); Associate Professor and Professor applicants must submit Annexure-I and Annexure-IV.
4. Number and cross-reference all attachments against the relevant annexures in the application form.
5. Send the completed application only by Registered Post/ Speed Post/ Courier to the Registrar, Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University, Raja Bhoj Marg, Kolar Road, Bhopal – 462016, superscribing the post applied for on the envelope. Applications will not be accepted by hand.
6. Ensure the application reaches the university on or before 12 October 2026, by 6:00 PM.
