Presidency University has notified vacancy for the Junior Research Fellow post on a contract basis for a period of four months non-renewable under a project lasting until February 2027. Who Can Apply

Candidates must meet the following educational and qualification criteria to be eligible for the Junior Research Fellow position:

• Essential Qualification: MSc/MS/BS-MS or equivalent in any branches of Biology.
• National Level Test: Qualification in the National Eligibility Test at the JRF/LS level or Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) or an equivalent exam if any.

Desirable Qualifications (not mandatory):

• Previous hands-on experience in cell culture, mammalian cell transfection and transduction, transformation and cloning in bacteria, and techniques such as Western blotting, qPCR and immunoprecipitation.
• Previous experience with bioinformatics tools.
• Evidence of good oral and written communication skills in English through presentation.

Pay and Tenure

The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive a consolidated fellowship/salary as per DST-SERB norms, amounting to Rs. 31,000 plus Rs. 7,440 (24% HRA), totalling Rs. 38,440/- per month. The tenure of the assignment is four months and is non-renewable under the project duration which runs until February 2027. The selected candidate may be allowed to enroll for the Ph.D. program as per university rules.

The fellow will contribute to elucidate the mechanistic role of chromatin modifiers in regulating the epigenetic landscape in oncohistones mediated hematological malignancies specifically T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The fellow will take part in publishing the scientific findings in reputed peer-reviewed international journals. He/she is encouraged to set up collaborations with other labs in Presidency University as well as other research institutes.

Candidates must bring a hard copy of their CV, write-up, and original mark sheets/grade cards for B.Sc. and M.Sc., NET/GATE scorecard/rank card/certificate of award. Self-attested xerox copies of the original will also be accepted subject to verification of the original on a later date if the candidate is selected. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
