Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking, will empanel one retired officer as Domain Expert (Critical Minerals) on an on-call, contract basis for 02 (Two) years under its Critical Mineral Exploration Programme, at an honorarium of ₹10,000/- to ₹20,000/- per day depending on level/grade. Candidates need an M.Sc./M. Tech. in Geology / Applied Geology and at least 25 years of relevant experience, and must send the prescribed application by post or to [email protected] on or before 23:59 hours of 5 December 2026.

About OIL Domain Expert (Critical Minerals)

Oil India Limited describes itself in the notice as a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking and the second largest national upstream Oil & Gas Company with a pan India presence and global footprint. In line with the Government of India’s National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM), OIL has diversified into exploration and development of critical and strategic minerals and has secured two strategic critical mineral blocks under the Composite Licence (CL) regime: Phop Block in Arunachal Pradesh and Jorkian Block in Rajasthan. The Domain Expert is being empanelled for specialised assignments under this programme.

Who Can Apply

Applications are invited only from retired officers. The essential requirements for the Domain Expert (Critical Minerals) post are:

• Masters in M.Sc./M. Tech. in Geology / Applied Geology from Government recognized College/ Universities/ Institution.
• Retired from a Government mining/geoscientific organization in the pay scale of at least ₹1,82,200– ₹2,24,100.
• A minimum of 25 years of relevant professional experience.

Candidates who have worked with the Geological Survey of India and have at least one year of experience in Critical Mineral Assessment would be preferred.

Desirable

• Good interpersonal, delegation, liaison, networking and communication skills to establish effective relationships internal and external to the organization.
• Experience in technical planning of an Exploration project for deep-seated and critical minerals.
• Preparation of Prospecting & Exploration plan for the composite and mining lease blocks, including Geological, Geophysical and Geochemical techniques.
• Estimation and evaluation of resource/reserve of bedded, deep-seated and critical minerals as per the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC), with follow-up of The Minerals (Evidence of Mineral Contents) MEMC Rules 2015 and The Australasian Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) Rules.
• Ability to provide expert advice for searching deep-seated minerals in uncovered areas.
• Experience in selecting and exploring lithium, cobalt, graphite, nickel, copper, potash, REE and other associated critical minerals.
• Experience and knowledge of various facets of work related to Geology & Mining, Policy & Regulation of Mines and Minerals.
• Good understanding of mining leases and familiarity with government procedures and policies.
• Ability to prepare technical components of RFPs for the engagement of consultants for critical mineral exploration.

Age Limit

The candidate should not be more than 68 years of age as on 05/12/2026. The candidate must also have a minimum of 02 remaining years before attaining the maximum permissible age limit of 70 years at the time of application.

Pay and Tenure

The Domain Expert on call duty is paid a per-day honorarium according to level/grade:

Travel, local conveyance, boarding and lodging will be arranged by OIL as per the entitlements of regular executives of their status in OIL. No other facilities will be extended or borne by OIL.

• The period of empanelment is 02 (Two) years, and the selected candidate shall be engaged on a contract basis.
• The engagement will be on-call basis from time to time during the project period.
• Domain experts will be engaged up to 100 days during the year, starting from the date of the empanelment.
• A non-binding understanding between the Project Proponent and the Domain Expert on the Project Plan will be the basis of engagement.
• The empanelment is terminable at any time by serving 01 (One) month notice in writing by either party.
• The expert will report at CoEES, OIL, Guwahati, and may be required to visit areas in and outside India occasionally for business development and as per operational requirements.

The Domain Expert shall provide technical guidance for ongoing and upcoming activities associated with the exploration and development of the Phop, Jorkian and other critical mineral blocks, including:

• Geological mapping
• Trenching and drilling
• Core studies and laboratory data interpretation
• Hydrogeological investigations
• Beneficiation studies
• Resource estimation and other associated activities
