IIT BHU Recruitment 2026 has one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, IIT (BHU) Varanasi. The post is in an ANRF-IRG project, and ANRF is the funding agency. Who Can Apply

Essential Qualification

NET/GATE is part of the minimum essential qualification. The application form asks whether you have qualified in UGC/CSIR/NET/GATE (or equivalent) and asks for the details if you have. You can also list research or work experience on the form, but experience is not part of the minimum qualification.

Age Limit

Pay and Tenure

HRA is paid on top of the monthly emoluments in both periods. The project is sanctioned for a total duration of 36 months. The duration of the post is 2.3 years. The first appointment is for one year and can be continued for the next year depending on performance. The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

How to Apply for IIT BHU Junior Research Fellow

1. Fill in the application form attached to the notice (“Application for Junior Research Fellow”). Your application must strictly follow this format.
2. Paste a photograph in the space on the form. Sign the declaration and write the place and date.
3. Make PDF files of self-attested copies of all your mark sheets and certificates.
4. Email the application and the PDFs to the Principal Investigator, Prof. Rajeev, at [email protected].
5. Write “Application for JRF-ANRF-IRG 2026” in the subject line of the email.
6. Send it within 21 days of the advertisement. The notice does not print the date of the advertisement.

What the Application Form Asks For

• Your name in block letters, and your father’s or husband’s name
• Marital status (Married/Single) and nationality
• Category (SC/ST/OBC/PH/Gen), and whether you are differently abled (Yes/No)
• Date of birth and address for communication
• Contact numbers (mobile and residence) and email ID (mandatory)
• Educational qualifications from SSC/Matric onwards: examination passed, subject(s), university or board, year of passing, division or class, and % of marks. Attested copies must be enclosed.
• Research or work experience, if any: organisation with designation, period of service (from and to), salary and reasons for leaving. Attested copies of supporting documents must be enclosed.
• Whether you have qualified in UGC/CSIR/NET/GATE (or an equivalent examination), with details

• A photograph and a signed declaration that the information is correct and nothing is suppressed

Selection and Interview

Candidates are selected through shortlisting and an interview. The Principal Investigator (PI) can limit the number of candidates called for the interview to a reasonable number. Shortlisting is based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum given in the advertisement. Shortlisted candidates will be told by email. The notice does not give the interview date.

The interview is held at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, IIT (BHU), Varanasi- 221005. Shortlisted candidates must bring:

• A valid ID proof recognised by the Government of India
• One set of self-attested copies of proof of date of birth, mark sheets, certificates, NET Certificate, GATE Certificate, experience certificate(s) and other documents
