The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), part of “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University (an Institution of National Importance, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India), needs a Field Investigator / Field Enumerator for a dairy cooperative research project in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The post is a purely temporary two-month contract with a consolidated remuneration of ₹20,000 per month (inclusive of all). A post-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Rural Management, Agriculture, Dairy Management, Development Studies or allied disciplines will be preferred. The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) describes itself as a premier national institute for postgraduate, doctoral-level and mid-career/in-service education, research and consulting in rural management. Founded in 1979, it aims to promote sustainable rural development through professional management. It now functions under “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.

The Field Investigator / Field Enumerator will work on IRMA’s project on sustainable dairy farming and value chain development through Primary Dairy Cooperatives, which studies livelihood diversification strategies for small and marginal dairy farmers in rural Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This recruitment is for field work in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Who Can Apply

The notice lists the following selection criteria for the Field Investigator / Field Enumerator post:

• Education (preferred): A candidate with a post-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Rural Management, Agriculture, Dairy Management, Development Studies or allied disciplines will be preferred.

Pay and Tenure

The selected Field Investigator / Field Enumerator will receive a consolidated remuneration of ₹20,000/- per month (inclusive of all). No separate payment towards any additional allowance shall be admissible unless specifically approved under the project norms.

The contract is purely on a temporary basis for two (2) months. No claims can be made about permanent employment, as the post will not turn into a permanent role under any circumstances. The notice states that the contract may be extended based on performance, availability of project funds and requirements, and also states that the contract will automatically conclude upon completion of the two-month period and will not be extended further.

• Conduct midline surveys of dairy farming households using structured survey tools.
• Undertake primary data collection through household surveys, interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), as required.
• Coordinate and assist in training and capacity-building programmes conducted under the project.
• Coordinate with dairy farmers, Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies (PDCS) and other relevant local stakeholders for field activities.
• Assist in field-level activities and ensure timely and accurate collection of project data.
• Assist in data verification, documentation and preparation of field reports.
• Support the research team in other project-related field activities as assigned.
