BRIC-National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani, an institute of the Government of India under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology, is filling 11 contractual project posts under the DBT-funded IndiaCAN-Twin oral cancer project. The posts are Project Scientist I, Research Associate I, Principal Project Associate, Project Associate II and Project Associate I. Pay ranges from Rs. 31,000 to Rs. 58,000 per month plus 27% HRA, and the appointment is initially for one year. About NIBMG Recruitment 2026

BRIC-National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Kalyani, describes itself as an institute that has created the physical infrastructure and platform technologies to support research, translation and training in biomedical genomics. These posts are “Project Linked Person” positions for extramural projects carried out by the institute.

The posts serve the IndiaCAN-Twin project. Its Principal Investigators are Prof. Nidhan K. Biswas and Prof. Analabha Basu, and its Co-Principal Investigator is Dr. Dilip Kumar. The project studies gingivo-buccal oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the leading cancer among Indian males. It uses multi-omics profiling, longitudinal cohorts and computational genomics pipelines at NIBMG, together with artificial intelligence and digital pathology. The aim is to build predictive Bio-AI frameworks and to find diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for Indian oral cancer patients.

• Desirable: Experience in AI/ML model development.
• Desirable: Experience in Python or R.
• Desirable: Good knowledge in Linux.

Research Associate I

• Essential: Ph.D./MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree, or 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
• Desirable: Documented experience in cell culture, multi-omics data generation (library preparation, sequencing), cell culture and functional/molecular biology assays.
• Desirable: Candidates with demonstrated experience in molecular cloning, CRISPR-Cas9 based assays etc. will be preferred.
• Desirable: Experience in developing data analytical pipelines and tools for big data analysis and interpretations of genomics and transcriptomics data.

Principal Project Associate

Essential qualification, either of two options:

• Option 1: (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognised University or equivalent; and (ii) Eight years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
• OR Option 2: Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) Four years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and service.

Desirable qualification, either of two profiles:

• Computational profile: (i) Experience in developing data analytical pipelines and tools for big data analysis and interpretations of genomics and transcriptomics data; (ii) Experience in AI/ML; (iii) Experience in Linux, Python or R.
• OR wet-lab profile: (i) Documented experience in multi-omics data generation (library preparation, sequencing); (ii) Documented experience in cell culture and functional/molecular biology assays. Candidates with prior experience in molecular cloning, CRISPR-Cas9 based assays etc. will be preferred.

Project Associate II

• Essential: (i) Master’s Degree in Natural or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and (ii) 2 years’ experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
• Desirable: Documented experience in cell culture, multi-omics data generation (library preparation, sequencing).
• Desirable: Experience in cell culture and functional/molecular biology assays.

Project Associate I

• Essential 1: Master’s Degree in Natural or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
• Essential 2: CSIR-UGC (NET)/LS or GATE or equivalent National level examinations conducted by central govt agencies.
• Desirable (computational profile): Experience in omics data analysis; experience in AI/ML; experience in Linux, Python or R.
• OR desirable (wet-lab profile): Candidates with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology assays will be preferred.

Pay and Tenure

• The pay for every post is a consolidated monthly remuneration, with 27% HRA on top of the amount shown in the vacancy table.
• For Project Associate I: if no suitable candidate is found with the second essential qualification (CSIR-UGC NET/LS, GATE or an equivalent national-level examination), a candidate who does not have it may be given Rs. 25,000/- + HRA.
• The positions are contractual.
• Appointments will be initially for one year, which is extendable depending upon performance, availability of funds and requirements of the project.

• Process and make data AI-ready and testing of AI models.

2. Attach a photocopy of the relevant category certificate if you belong to SC/ST/OBC. Use a separate sheet for qualification and experience details if the space is not enough.
3. Merge all the relevant attachments into a single PDF.
