The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, is filling one regular, unreserved Manager post in Pay Level-11 through direct recruitment. Indian nationals with a Master Degree and 6 years’ relevant experience can apply online until 1730 hours on 30 November 2026. Selection is by interview of shortlisted candidates. Regular employees of NIOT and Central Government Departments must also send their application through proper channel.

NIOT Manager Eligibility 2026

Age Limit

The age must not exceed 45 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications. The same closing date decides whether a candidate meets the qualification and experience requirements.

Essential Requirements

• A Master Degree from a recognized University.
• Operational computer knowledge.
• 6 years’ experience preferably in Govt./PSU/Autonomous Bodies in the relevant area in Pay Level-8/Pay Level-9 or its equivalent.

मैनेजर पद के लिए मान्यता प्राप्त विश्वविद्यालय से मास्टर डिग्री, कंप्यूटर का परिचालन ज्ञान और कम से कम 6 वर्षों का संबंधित क्षेत्र में अनुभव आवश्यक है। अनुभव सरकारी या स्वायत्त संस्थानों में होना बेहतर माना जाता है।

Desirable Qualification

MBA/LLB/Diploma in Management/CA/ICWA/SAS or equivalent.

Rules on Qualification and Experience

• The applicant must be a citizen of India.
• Qualifications should have been obtained through recognized Universities or Institutions.
• Experience in the relevant area is counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications.
• Experience on part-time basis, casual/daily wages, as free lancers and the like is not counted for short listing.
• A candidate claiming an equivalent qualification must produce the order or letter, with number and date, showing the authority under which it is so treated. Otherwise the claim will not be considered and the application is liable to be rejected.

Age Relaxation

Manager Duties and Job Requirement

The Manager shall be responsible for these duties in the assigned functional area:

Selection Process

1. Short-listing: a duly constituted Screening Committee adopts its own criteria. If applications are large in number, NIOT may restrict the candidates called for interview to a reasonable limit, using one or more suitable criteria.
2. Screening list: the list of screened in/screened out applicants will be notified on the NIOT website.
3. Interview: selection is by interview of the shortlisted candidates.

Meeting the essential qualifications does not by itself entitle a candidate to an interview. Mention all qualifications and experience in the relevant area beyond the prescribed minimum in the application, with supporting documents.

Service Conditions

• Pay and allowances: the post carries basic pay and usual allowances, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA), as admissible to employees of Central Autonomous Bodies.
• Increment: an employee is eligible for annual increment as per rules.
• Other benefits: Leave, New Pension Scheme, reimbursement of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession, Children Education Allowance and Newspaper allowance are available as per Rules.
• Posting: the appointment will be at the NIOT Headquarters at Chennai. Appointees are liable to be posted to any field unit of NIOT in India on administrative exigencies.
• Probation: two years from the date of taking over charge of the post. It may be extended at the discretion of the Competent Authority, and confirmation is considered after successful completion, in accordance with the extant rules.

How to Apply for NIOT Manager Recruitment 2026

1. Read the instructions to candidates before filling in the application.
2. Open the NIOT online application page. Applications are accepted only online.
3. Fill in the form and upload the documents listed below. Incomplete applications, including those without a photograph, digital signature or certificates, will be summarily rejected.
4. Check every particular before submitting. Requests to add, alter or change particulars or uploaded documents after submission will not be entertained.
5. Submit the application by the closing time. The website accepts applications round the clock until then.
6. If you are serving on a regular basis in NIOT or a Central Government Department, have the application forwarded through proper channel. The employer must certify that you are clear from the vigilance angle and will be relieved within one month of receipt of the offer of appointment.
7. Address the forwarded application to the Director, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Major Mukund Varadarajan Salai, Pallikaranai, Chennai 600100. NIOT takes no responsibility for transit and other delays.

• Self-attested photocopies of experience certificates, if any, in chronological order.
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer, if employed in Government/Autonomous Bodies/PSUs.
• Any other document establishing eligibility.

Other Conditions

• Candidature or appointment will be cancelled without further notice if a candidate does not meet the essential qualifications or age, does not produce original documents for verification, or furnishes false documents.
• Any discrepancy between the application and the original documents makes a candidate ineligible for the interview.
• A selected candidate who has applied for posts in other organizations must intimate those details immediately after joining NIOT.
• Canvassing in any form, or bringing political or other influence, is a disqualification.
• NIOT reserves the right not to fill up the post. The decision of its competent authority on eligibility, applications and mode of selection is final and binding.
• No interim enquiry or correspondence will be entertained.
