The Department of Fruit Science, Maharana Pratap Horticultural University (MHU), Karnal invites applications for 1 post of Young Professional-II (Fruit Science) on a contract basis under the scheme “Promotion of Climate-Resilient Underutilized Fruit Based Systems for Nutrition Security and Livelihood Enhancement in Haryana through Demonstration, Capacity Building and Knowledge Support”. Maharana Pratap Horticultural University (MHU) is a horticultural university at Karnal, Haryana. Its campuses and units named in this notice are the Department of Fruit Science, the office of the Director of Research at the EEI campus (Nilokheri) and the Horticultural Research Centres (HRCs). This post serves a Department of Fruit Science scheme on climate-resilient underutilized fruit based systems for nutrition security and livelihood enhancement in Haryana. Who Can Apply

Educational qualification: M.Sc. Horticulture-Fruit Science or M.Sc. (Ag.) Horticulture-Fruit Science.

Age limit: Minimum 21 years and maximum 45 years on the last date of submission of application. SC/BC candidates get relaxation as per University/Government rules. The terms and conditions specify a relaxation of 3 years on the maximum age limit for SC/BC etc. candidates.

Ph.D. students: They must produce a NOC from the Dean, PGS at the time of the interview.

Employed candidates: The application form asks for a no objection certificate from the present employer, if applicable.

Pay and Tenure

• The pay is INR 42,000/- per month (Fixed), without HRA, as per University rules.
• The appointment is on a contract basis and is co-terminus with the project. The maximum period of engagement as a Young Professional is three years (1+1+1) or the duration of the scheme/project, whichever is earlier.
• The Young Professional will not be a regular employee of the university. They will not be entitled to any CPF/GPF or any other benefit given to regular employees.
• Leave is as per university norms.
• The services can be terminated, after the Young Professional is given an opportunity to respond, if their work and conduct are not found satisfactory.
• The services are also liable to be terminated at any time, without any reason being given, because the funding agency does not release the grant or for administrative reasons. In that case the university gives one month’s notice or one month’s emoluments in lieu of notice.
• To leave the post, the Young Professional must give the university one month’s notice or one month’s emoluments in lieu of notice.
• When the project’s term ends, the Young Professional will be relieved. The university/department will not be responsible for their adjustment in the university.

The Young Professional-II works under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The duties are:

• Assisting in field demonstrations
• Baseline surveys and data collection
• Farmer mobilization
• Training and capacity-building programmes
• Monitoring and documentation
• Preparation of reports
• Other scheme-related activities

How to Apply for MHU Young Professional-II

Applications must be made on the prescribed proforma (Annexure-A), which is printed with the notification. The complete application must be received in the office of the undersigned, the Prof. & Head (Fruit Science), Department of Fruit Science, Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, Karnal, by 30 October 2026 at 11.00 A.M. No application received after that will be accepted for any reason. The notice does not say whether the application should be sent by post or delivered by hand.

1. Write the post name, Young Professional-II, in the blank at the top of the Annexure-A form.
2. Fill in your personal details: full name in block letters, father’s name, date of birth (DD/MM/YY), age as on the interview date, permanent address with PIN code, mobile number, e-mail address, sex, marital status and whether you belong to SC/BC/General.
3. Paste a self-attested passport size photograph in the space provided.
4. Fill in your educational qualifications (Matriculation, 10+2, Graduation, Post Graduation, Ph.D.) with board/university, year of passing, maximum marks, marks obtained and percentage/OGPA.
5. Answer whether you are NET qualified, give your computer knowledge (certificate/diploma/degree) and list any work or professional experience (position held, employer, period from and to, and total experience).
6. Attach a separate sheet with your publications. Also attach a no objection certificate from your present employer (if applicable) and a short note on how you can contribute to the present scheme, with your professional achievements, if any.
7. Sign the declaration with the date and place, and make sure the complete application reaches the office by 30 October 2026, 11.00 A.M.

Important Instructions

• The selected candidate must report for duty within 15 days from the date the order is issued. Otherwise the appointment will be treated as withdrawn.
• At the time of joining, a medical certificate of fitness from the CMO/SMO of a Govt. Hospital must be produced.
• Before joining the post, the selected candidate must sign an agreement on non-judicial stamped paper of Rs. 15/-.
• The engagement for the scheme is full time. Young Professionals will not be allowed to do any other work, or to accept or hold another appointment elsewhere, with or without pay.
• Young Professionals will be under the administrative control of the Principal Investigator.
• The University may modify, add, delete and/or amend/change the rules with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, MHU, Karnal.
• The declaration on the form says that if any information is found to be false, incorrect or incomplete, or the candidate is found ineligible, at any time before or after the interview or selection, the candidature or appointment may be cancelled or is liable to be rejected without notice.
