Specialty-Wise Senior Resident Qualifications

Important: Candidates whose qualifying examination result is declared after 31 December 2026, or who cannot provide the required pass certificate by that date, will not be eligible.

Selected candidates will receive the pay level applicable to their post under the Central Government pay matrix.

NPA refers to Non-Practising Allowance, applicable to the specified medical positions. Other admissible allowances will be governed by the institute’s applicable service rules.

Selection will be based on a Computer Based Test carrying 75 marks and a Departmental Interview and Assessment carrying 25 marks.

Selection Stages

1. Computer Based Test on 5 December 2026.
2. Department-wise and category-wise shortlisting based on CBT marks.
3. Scrutiny of shortlisted candidates’ applications and uploaded documents.
4. Publication of the eligibility notice.
5. Document verification.
6. Departmental Interview and Assessment.
7. Final merit preparation using CBT and departmental assessment marks.

Shortlisting Ratio: Candidates will normally be shortlisted in a ratio of 1:3 against the advertised department-wise and category-wise vacancies.

Final Merit: Only candidates who separately qualify in both the CBT and Departmental Interview and Assessment will be considered for final selection. Final merit will be based on the combined score out of 100 marks.

PGIMER CBT Exam Pattern 2026

Minimum Qualifying Marks

These qualifying standards apply separately to the CBT and the Departmental Interview and Assessment.

The Computer Based Test is expected to be conducted in four cities.
