The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released the 3rd Corrigendum to Advertisement No. 04 of 2026-27 for recruitment to the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon/Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS/AVAS) in Group-A (Junior Branch-II) of the Odisha Veterinary Service under the Fisheries & Animal Resources Development (ARD) Department. OPSC VAS Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2026

Selection to the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon/AVAS will be made purely on the basis of a Written Examination consisting of two objective-type (MCQ) papers carrying a total of 800 marks.

• Paper-I (Veterinary Science): 200 questions, 400 marks, duration 2½ hours (1st sitting)
• Paper-II (Animal Science): 200 questions, 400 marks, duration 2½ hours (2nd sitting)
• Question type: Objective, covering General Awareness and subject-specific topics

Paper-I (Veterinary Science) covers Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Pathology, and Veterinary Microbiology.

Paper-II (Animal Science) covers Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Products Technology, Livestock Production and Management, and Animal Genetics and Breeding.

After the written examination, the Commission will shortlist candidates for Document Verification: where the number of vacancies is up to 2, 5 candidates will be called; where vacancies exceed 2, twice the number of vacancies will be called for document verification.

Important Instructions

• Only online applications submitted through the OPSC website will be accepted; applications received through any other mode will be summarily rejected.
• Incomplete applications, including non-uploading of required documents, are liable for rejection without any correspondence.
• Candidates must not attach original certificates with the application; only self-certified copies marked “Submitted by me and Certified as Genuine and has not been cancelled” are required.
• Any misrepresentation or suppression of information in the application will result in cancellation of candidature or other penalty as decided by the Commission.
• Community/caste status once mentioned in the application form will not be changed under any circumstances.
• Government servants must inform their Head of Office in writing about applying and must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) well in advance.
• The Admission Certificate for the written examination will be uploaded on the OPSC website prior to the exam date; candidates must download and carry it to the examination centre.
• Any complaint regarding the conduct of the examination must be sent to the Grievance Wing of the Commission by email ([email protected]) within 7 days of completion of the examination.
• Besides the exam date change, all other terms and conditions of Advertisement No. 04 of 2026-27 remain unchanged.
